Friday, February 1, 2008 I was scheduled to fly to Chicago to minister the gospel with Justin Lehrke at Water of Life Church of Illinois and Water of Life Church of Wisconsin. As I was driving to the airport, Doyle called and asked how the weather was. I said it was a nice morning, the sun was shining and it was 34°. Later, my sister called and said, "you're going?! The news said they canceled a bunch of flights and to be sure and check with your airline before going to the airport." I told her I had and my flight was on schedule.
When I arrived at the airport I checked the monitors and everything was on time and I checked in and headed to my gate. When I walked up, I noticed there wasn't a plane parked there but I didn't think too much about it, though it was getting close to boarding time. A woman standing next to me was having a conversation with her Mom in Chicago and I overheard her telling her she didn't know if she was going to be able to come see her because she might not be able to fly in there. There were quite a few business travelers and some of them were expressing frustration, because they had been re-routed due to weather. I hadn't listened to any news that morning so I wasn't aware there were travel delays due to weather. I stepped away from the crowd and began to set my heart and will to believe: there will be a plane, I will be on it and I will go to Chicago! Our plane was coming from Chicago, and it had been delayed because of weather out there. We left DIA about 30 minutes late, however we were only about 10 minutes late when we arrived in Chicago. Praise God!
As I was waiting for my luggage, my phone rang; it was Doyle. "God is with you, lady!" I said, "I know, and so are you." (Col 2:1&5) He said, "where are you at?" I said, "waiting for my luggage." He said he knew God had told him to call. As we talked, we were both encouraged. He shared with me that he had been told that 500 flights had been cancelled and we knew God had confirmed one more time, He is with Water of Life Ministries. The Spirit of God had directed Doyle to send me on that trip and what God has ordained, He will bring to pass. Justin shared with me later, that after I left Chicago, they received 3 more inches of snow!
I just want to encourage everyone reading this, salvation is whatever you need for that day. Believe this gospel, "it is the power of God unto our salvation, to everyone who believes."
God Bless You
